Using Breadcrumbs
One powerful way to move around Moodle is using "breadcrumbs." These are the words under the navigation bar.
In this example, the following are breadcrumbs:
HOME / MY COURSES / LEARNING MOODLE / USING MOODLE / COURSE ROLES
Each of the words (breadcrumbs) between the / symbol represent a level that you've moved through. Most of them can be clicked to take you back to that page. In this case:
- HOME would take you back to the Home page where you can see Available Courses
- MY COURSES would take you back to the page of the courses for which you are currently enrolled
- LEARNING MOODLE would take you to all of the courses in the Learning Moodle category
- USING MOODLE would take you back to the main page of the course
- COURSE ROLES is the page that you are on.
Breadcrumbs help let you know where you are. These are persistently available. You can think of these as the path that you've taken to get where you are. They also provide a sense of place. They will also show you the structure of the course.
Using breadcrumbs is preferred over using the Back button on your web browser.
