India comprises of 28 states and 8 union territories(Chandigarh, Delhi, Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Puducherry, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh). From 31 October, 2019 state Jammu & Kashmir divided into 2 separate union territories Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. From 26 January, 2020 Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli becomes a single union territoryBefore this, India was having 29 states (including Jammu & Kashmir) and 7 union territories (Chandigarh, Delhi, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Puducherry, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep).
